Recumbent Trikes (Tricycles)

Not all recumbents are bicycles. Some are Trikes. Recumbent Trikes have a special appeal to the touring crowd. The recumbent trike always provides its rider with a convenient place to rest and, the carrying capacity is great. Your fully loaded Trike won't fall over the minute you turn your back, either. The recumbent trike also appeals to riders with balance problems, salvaging their otherwise lost love of cycling.

Riding a Recumbent Trike is easy!

There is no learning curve, you can ride one instantly. Climbing steep hills is a breeze with the Trikes incredible gearing. Additionally Recumbent Trikes do not require the same forward speed as a bicycle to maintain your balance. When it's time to rest, there's no need to get off your Trike; just stop anywhere and set the brake.

There are two recumbent trike designs:

the tadpole - a trike with two front wheels and one rear wheel.
the delta - a trike with one wheel in the front and two in the back

The recumbent trikes pictured below show both designs. Many consider the tadpole trike to be the sportier trike while the delta trike has proven to be another excellent design.
