Hurricane Sport

The Hurricane Sport with Above Seat Steering is really the original Hurricane, a design that sets the standard for the "Quasi-Lowracer".
With its short wheelbase and compact construction, it is a highly manoeuvrable, dialled in bike that begs you to go faster.

The main feature of the Hurricane Sport Under Seat Stearing is its 'direct' steering. In developing an under seat steering system it was really important to retain this essential quality.
This has been realised by fixing the steerer directly to the rear of the fork, keeping the rider dialled in to their Hurricane.

Over the past few years, the Hurricane has proved itself as a reliable allrounder and terrific travel companion.Its compactness and direct chainline allow for rapid acceleration and great climbing capabilities.
Several customers have requested variations on the hurricane theme including underseat steering and a longer wheelbase; these are now options, which mean that the Hurricane can appeal to an even wider spectrum of riders than ever before.

Hurricane Tour

The Hurricane Tour features a longer front and rear fork than the Hurricane Sport, resulting in a slightly higher bike with a longer wheelbase.
It is a bike that you can tour with yet is still fast and exciting. In many ways it offers more possibilities than the Hurricane Sport.

The Hurricane Tour USS has in contrast with the Sport USS, an indirect steering system. Because the steering linkage has an inbuilt reduction ratio, the steering is extremely stable and forgiving, making it a pleasure to ride all day.
The design of the steering enables the Hurricane Tour USS to be the best of both worlds- a superbly comfortable tourer that also has the great slow speed manoeuvrability of the above seat Hurricane due to its enhanced steering lock.

An option that compliments the Hurricane Tour is our front suspension system.
The higher stance also enables larger bags to be fitted, as there is greater ground clearance. If all that isn't enough, fit fatter tyres and head off into the outback, the suspension and greater clearances make offroad touring a real possibility too!

This compact bike shares many characteristics with its stable mate the Hurricane including lightweight and manoeuvrability.

But, the Mistral also has much in common with the Wizard. For example, the chainline is straight without rollers and the seat is higher and more upright.

Seiran

When Challenge started out in the late eighties, we only made Hi-Racers, only because at the time, there were no fast, small wheels available. In those days, recumbents were only used for racing. Over time our customers discovered that these bikes were also perfect for extreme travelling. Our Hi-racers evolved in to heavy duty touring bikes.
Challenge has returned to the Hi-racer scene with the Seiran. The Seiran combines the best of both worlds, but without compromise. We have raised the standard for frame design and geometry to a new level. The frame is light and fast, yet strong enough to carry all of your luggage over vast distances.
If you want to go off-road we can change the rear dropouts to provide loads of clearance.

Seiran-24

Challenge received many requests for a 24/24 Seiran for smaller riders, and as a result, they've introducing an addition to the Seiran line, the Seiran-24!
The Seiran-24 is outfitted with 24" (507mm) wheels front and rear. The resulting lower overall height, combined with a choice of three different seats, enables a perfect fit for smaller riders. By incorporating their SL technology, they've managed to keep the weight low while maintaining a high load capacity (265 lbs, combined rider/ luggage). Outfitted with a voyaging rack, the Seiran-24 becomes an able touring bike, capable of carrying up to 4 panniers.

Taifun

The Taifun was originally developed as a Hardtail Semi-Lowracer with 20" wheels front and rear for quick handling and blistering acceleration.
It has always had far more potential than out and out speed. So we developed a complimentary suspension system that still retains the beautifully clean lines of the track version yet transforms the bike into a truly versatile all rounder.
Race the Taifun or take it touring for a few months... the choice is yours.

Ventus

Originally introduced in 1995, the Wizard 20/26 SWB recumbent was a comfortable and easy to ride workhorse. It was eventually discontinued, but customer demand for a 20/26 bike was so great that we went back to the drawing board and developed what is the latest addition to our line-up, the Ventus. This new model builds on the legacy of the Wizard by incorporating the latest technological developments from our more recent SL and Endurance Series bikes. We were able to:
  • improve handling by increasing the wheelbase and refining the steering geometry;
  • increase comfort by offering a choice between our aluminum, fiberglass, and carbon seats;
  • improve control by installing the high-end Meks front fork as standard equipment; and
  • update the frame to 2008 specifications by incorporating frame details from our SL and Endurance Series.
