RANS Brings Back the Rocket (Sort of…)

RANS has introduced a new version of their much-beloved Rocket! Kind of… It’s a new bike that’s called the Rocket and it maintains what RANS calls “the spirit of the Rocket” but not much else. Now that the season is ramping up again, we’ll do them more regularly. So without further ado… Here are some stories of [...]

Cycle Genius closes doors

Cycle Genius closes doors

Cycle Genius announced their closure via a message posted to their homepage.

AFTER MANY YEARS OF BUSINESS, IT IS WITH GREAT REGRET THAT I MUST CLOSE THE DOORS OF CYCLE GENIUS.

I HAVE MADE SOME GOOD FRIENDS AND LOYAL CUSTOMERS.
IT HAS BEEN A GREAT RIDE AND LOTS OF FUN.

SIMPLY PUT, I NO LONGER HAVE THE TIME THAT IT TAKES TO CONTINUE DESIGNING, BUILDING AND SELLING THE BIKES I LOVE.

AND, WHILE I AM HOPEFUL THAT I MAY FIND A COMPANY TO CONTUNUE THE LINE, THERE IS NOTHING CURRENTLY IN THE WORKS.

I DO HAVE SOME SPARROWS AND FALCON LS BIKES LEFT ,BUT NO SPARE PARTS.

With the year barely begun, we've now seen the closure of Cycle Genius and Berserker.

2013 ICE Vortex

by Larry Varney Co-Editor When I first read about the Vortex, I thought: this is not the trike for me. Right there on the website , it says: “… one of the world’s most desirable racing trikes.” I’m not a racer – I’m a tourist! But then last year I did somewhat “race” at Calvin’s [...]

2013 Catrike Rally set for March 2nd

2013 Catrike Rally set for March 2nd

Catrike has announced the date of their 9th annual Catrike rally ... but not factory tour.

The following was posted to the Catrike forums:

2013 CATRIKE RALLY
This is the 9th year of this event!

Saturday March 2nd Rally

9:00 AM Catrike Rally

Lakeview Park
850 Surprise Drive
Winter Garden, Florida 34787

12 PM Free time to get lunch and mingle in Downtown Winter Garden.

We are very excited to be hosting our 9th Catrike Rally! Please join us for a great ride along the West Orange Trail in the morning and time to share with other riders during lunch. We are very grateful to all of our customers and so this is a time of the year when we can give back a little to our customers that have helped us be so successful. Generally after the Rally we have a Factory Tour but we regret to say this year we will not be having a tour as the timing coincides with us moving to another facility. Due to some required upgrades necessary for the new building and delayed permitting, it will not allow us time to set up the factory for tours. We know that a big part of this event is the Factory Tour to view how Catrikes are made and we appreciate everyone’s understanding as we work hard to showcase our new home for future visits.

Anyone who comes to the Rally and has a Catrike will receive a limited edition 9th annual Catrike tee-shirt.

Very shortly, on the events section on our website, we will have live our online registration form to sign up for the event including the serial number of your Catrike and we will reply with a confirmation number for you to print and bring to the rally. Registrations that are received by February 19, 2013 with a valid Catrike serial number will receive a free tee-shirt so don’t forget to include your shirt size!

The Catrike Rally will begin at 9:00am Saturday at Lakeview Park by Lake Apopka. The ride on the West Orange Trail will start in Winter Garden and go West towards Downtown Clermont and returning to Winter Garden. (There will be support at Killarney Station). After the ride, there will be free time for lunch in Winter Garden. There are plenty of restaurants in the area along the trail so you will not need to drive your car.

There will be limited parking at the park but there is plenty of parking in the downtown Winter Garden area; there is a public parking lot on the west end of Plant Street next to the City Hall building.

Sunday March 3rd Ride

Our Rally is Saturday only, but those planning on staying for the weekend have many options. Hampton’s Edge Trailside Trikes will be hosting a ride and there are several other trails in the Central Florida area if you want to do some more riding on your Catrike such as the Seminole Wekiva Trail, Cady Way Trail, Inverness Trail (Hampton’s Edge), or you can ride a lot more of the West Orange Trail.

For more information on Hampton’s Edge ride please visit www.hamptonsedge.com or call 1-352-419-4809.

The weather is normally very pleasant during March, but as many of you know there is a chance for rain so bring some rain gear just in case.
