Does it seem odd that people who work in a recumbent shop also spend their time being fans of recumbents?  It shouldn't. Does it seem like maybe we have better things to do? Perhaps. But the nice thing about having a blogger on staff who is terrible at builds is that he then spends his free time digging up news nuggets and drawing attention to the bikes and trikes we love so dearly.

Catbike Musashi - Put a sock on it!
Written by Travis Prebble

We've fallen into the habit of coming up with weird names for the Catbike Musashi recumbent. We've had our Blusashi with the strikingly blue frame. We've had the Mushorti which featured the more recent short frame variation of the Musashi. And now, we have possibly the worst name pun yet... The Musocki.

Yes, Rob has taken a custom made body sock that we commissioned for a Trimuter BigWheel, paired it with an HP Velotechnik Streamer fairing, and mounted it all to his Musashi.

Benefits? Better aerodynamics and improved heat retention, which will come in handy as we enter the chilly Pennsylvania autumn. The only downside seems to be that the backs of the hands rub against the sock. Anyone looking to do the same should get in the habit of wearing at least light gloves in order to reduce mild skin abrasions over long rides.

Trikes, bikes, tandems, and trains

No, this is not a sequel to "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles". And you're a bit weird if you mentally made that connection based just on the title.

What we have instead is a short video from the 20 mile ride at the 2010 RBR Rally. On this ride was a Kett/Anura three trike train led by the TrikeDiva herself. In the first frames of the video, you can see the train whistle being blown by the caboose.

And that's yours truly in there sporting the Reverse Gear Citrus Market jersey (I was unfortunately not paid for my endorsement... but RBR does carry Reverse Gear wear).

Hope you enjoy the video!

Hase Kettwiesel coupler replacements
Written by Travis Prebble

Hase announced a recall of their aluminum tandem couplers a few months back. We now have the replacement steel couplers in stock, so if you've purchased an aluminum coupler from us in the past, please contact us for replacement information.

When sending in your couplers for replacement, please send only the main coupler hardware - do not send spacers, washer, bolts, et cetera.

Here are photos of both the aluminum and steel couplers (don't they look happy?):

Another rally video: Bryan Ball, stand-up comedian

At the pre-rally mixer, Rob talked Bryan J. Ball (of 'BentRider Online) into doing a bit of his stand-up act to fill the time that was slotted for Ian Sims' presentation.

Here it is:

Introducing the Gekko fx super-fast folding trike
Written by Travis Prebble

HP Velotechnik has posted a video full of intrigue and theft. During a normal day of photo shoots, an unidentified visitor reveals a new trike, folds it, unfolds it, folds it again, unfolds it again (presumably) and then rides off on it.

The video is really much better than my description of it.
