Does it seem odd that people who work in a recumbent shop also spend their time being fans of recumbents?  It shouldn't. Does it seem like maybe we have better things to do? Perhaps. But the nice thing about having a blogger on staff who is terrible at builds is that he then spends his free time digging up news nuggets and drawing attention to the bikes and trikes we love so dearly.

Exciting news from ICE regarding the changes to their TRICE line of recumbent trikes in 2010. I'll let them speak for themselves:

We're pleased to announce the new 2010 Trice. 22 years of trike design experience and combined with ground breaking innovation, setting the standard in advanced trike design.

New features include optional front suspension, an all new hinged folding frame. a new entry level trike and a little something extra, which we feel is the most exciting expression of Trice yet.....

The new 2010 Trice will be on show at Eurobike and Interbike, do join us on our stand* and be the first to see the future of trike riding.

New 2010 Trice Innovations

ICE Front and Rear Road Response Suspension

The new 2010 Trice is available with our advanced ICE front and rear Road Response Suspension (R.R.S). Featuring elastomers optimised to the individual rider, the system delivers comfort combined with ICE's renowned handling and dynamic performance

ICE Compact Flat Twist Hinged Folding Frame

The new 2010 Trice features an ICE Compact Flat Twist (C.F.T) technology hinged frame which allows a quick simple toolless fold for easy stowage and portability.

New Entry Level Model Line Up

The 2010 Trice line up now starts with an entry level rigid 20" wheel folding trike. The model still features ICE trademark quality and attention to detail enabling customers to enjoy a real ICE trike at a more affordable price.

New Range Line Up

We've expanded our range for 2010, allowing customers to select from one of a range of specification levels and a choice of frame styles with high and low seating positions, we'll be in touch soon with further details.

The New High Performance Trice

Performance redefined. Taking the essence of long distance high performance riding and distilling it to create the ultimate trike.

Features include:

- High performance ICE frame combining 7005 series aluminium and 4130 chromoly
- Carbon fibre hard-shell seat
- Advanced componentry suited to sustained fast cycling
- Compact Flat Twist (C.F.T) technology hinged frame to give a folding 700c rear wheel recumbent trike

On Sale from:

New Trice models will be available for delivery in early January 2010.

As I've mentioned before, we're heading out to Interbike this year to do some shopping and provide reports back on what we see. Rest assured we'll be chatting with ICE.

Until then, ICE were kind enough to send along some small teaser photos. Take a gander at that suspension!

ICE Trice 2010 :: The suspension kit will be available as a retrofit for earlier models. ICE Trice 2010 :: In 2010, the Trice will fold flatter than ever! ICE Trice 2010 :: Trice is looking to delve into the budget market with an entry level model. ICE Trice 2010 :: Looks like there will be more options for Trice next year, beyond the current NT and 26" choices. ICE Trice 2010 :: Trice is also looking to increase performance with a new high end trike.

I feel the need, the need for...

... overquoted lines from Top Gun! Didn't see that one coming, did you? Chances are good you won't see this one coming either. It's a black Catrike 700 with a BionX electric assist and a tail sock.

Mind you, the sock is bright, so while you won't see it coming, you'll definitely see it going.

As I'm a failure as a poet, there is no way I can convey the feeling of accelerating to 20MPH in a parking lot. No sooner do you start pedaling than you're about to hit a curb. That's why we take this one around the block a lot.

Sidewinder Pro Cruiser photos

Sidewinder Cycles recently posted a message on the RBR Facebook page, which brought me to the realization that we didn't have a set of photos for the Pro Cruiser or the Roadrunner. Well, we sold the Roadrunner before I could get my camera out, but our Pro Cruiser sat still just long enough for me to invade its rear wheel steered privacy.

Let's just say I got intimate with its underside.

This is the year of putting presidents on bents. I guess that would make them presibents.

You might recall that we've posted a couple of items regarding Obama on recumbents, but now we're going back, way back courtesy of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien who shows us a grand new design for the US penny.

Lincoln astride an FWD recumbent :: Hardly historically accurate. It makes no cents.Lincoln Penny Redesigns :: There's more than just the recumbent. Enjoy!

Granted, what I'm about to reveal is not all that Earth-shattering, but it is an RBR exclusive news item! You heard it here first. Or, rather, are about to hear it. As soon as I get to it.

It seems that the paint scheme of the TerraTrike Cruiser has changed ever so slightly to now include two black stripes of different widths on the cross member.

Yep, that's it. You can go about your business now.
